ColoradoAvalanche.com is again asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."
A save by Craig Anderson, a pass by Kevin Shattenkirk and a shootout tally by Kevin Porter
are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Nov. 29 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Anderson Slides Across – 11/19 vs. NY Rangers
Craig Anderson made 25 saves in his return to the Avalanche net, none more impressive than this stop in the first period with the game still scoreless. Rangers rookie Derek Stepan made a nice cross-ice pass to teammate Alex Frolov for what looked to be a sure goal. However, Anderson was up to the task, sliding across his crease from left to right to make the stop. Shattenkirk’s Setup – 11/20 @ Dallas
Rookie Kevin Shattenkirk showed off his impressive vision against the Stars, setting up veteran Milan Hejduk
for a pair of nearly identical power-play goals. On this play, the first of the two Shattenkirk/Hejduk connections, the rookie threaded a pass from the top of the left circle down to Hejduk, who tapped it past Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen. Porter Converts In Shootout – 11/20 @ Dallas
Having already scored game-winning goals in the Avalanche’s previous two games against the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers, Kevin Porter
was given another chance to help the Avalanche secure two points against Dallas. Porter was tabbed by Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco in the fifth round of the shootout against the Stars – his first career shootout attempt – and converted a wrister past Kari Lehtonen to give Colorado a 4-3 victory.
