Let your voice be heard in selecting Colorado’s “Play of the Week” each week during the season.
Goals by Wojtek Wolski and Ryan Smyth, along with a save by Andrew Raycroft, are this week's nominees.
We’ve offered up three choices, and now it's your turn to choose the top play by voting on the poll below or on the homepage of ColoradoAvalanche.com. At the end of the season, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine – once again, through fan voting – the Avalanche’s “Play of the Year”.
Check out this week’s three nominees, and be sure to vote for your favorite by Monday at 12:00 p.m. MT.
Wolski Dazzles Pens - 1/10 vs. Pittsburgh Wojtek Wolski broke a 2-2 tie with the Penguins when he made a pass to Ryan Smyth, skated into the Pittsburgh zone, took a return feed and beat Sabourin over his left shoulder. The goal, which came midway through the second period, was Wolski’s 11th of the season.
Smyth Hustles to Goal - 1/13 at Columbus Ryan Smyth pulled the Avs within a goal of the Blue Jackets with this power-play goal midway through the third period. After winning a faceoff, Smyth charged straight to the net where he calmly buried the rebound of a Brett Clark point shot for his 15th goal of the year.
Raycroft Denies Dorsett - 1/13 at Columbus With the game scoreless in the first period, Andrew Raycroft kept it that way with a big stop on Derek Dorsett. The Blue Jackets’ rookie had just come out of the penalty box when he was sprung loose on a breakaway, but Raycroft extended his right pad to make the save and keep Columbus off the scoreboard.
