ColoradoAvalanche.com is asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."
Darcy Tucker, T.J. Galiardi and Craig Anderson are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Feb. 1 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Tucker Sets Up Winner – 1/22 vs. Nashville With the Avalanche on a power play, Darcy Tucker set up the eventual game-winning goal by Brandon Yip. Starting at the top of the right circle, Tucker passed to Ryan Stoa down low and moved around a Nashville defender while cutting toward the net. After receiving a return feed, Tucker shuttled a pass across the crease to Yip for the tally.
Galiardi’s Second Effort – 1/24 vs. Dallas T.J. Galiardi gave the Avs a 2-0 lead over Dallas with the first short-handed goal of his career. After poking the puck away from Dallas defenseman Matt Niskanen just inside the blue line in the Avs’ defensive end, Galiardi raced up the right side before cutting toward the middle on a breakaway. The rookie’s initial attempt was stopped by Marty Turco, but Galiardi knocked home his own rebound.
Anderson Strong Early – 1/28 vs. Minnesota Just over three minutes into Colorado’s contest against Minnesota, netminder Craig Anderson made a pair of saves to keep the Wild off the scoreboard. After turning aside Martin Havlat’s point shot, Anderson also stopped Antti Miettinen’s rebound while lying prone on the ice. Ryan Wilson then got in front of an Andrew Brunette follow-up attempt to keep the game scoreless.
