ColoradoAvalanche.com is again asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."
Philippe Dupuis, David Jones
and Peter Budaj are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Feb. 14 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Dupuis Upends Blake – 2/5 vs. Anaheim
Through Wednesday’s games, Avalanche forward Philippe Dupuis was tied for third among league rookies with 89 hits. On this play, Dupuis and Anaheim forward Jason Blake chased a loose puck to the side boards, where Dupuis chipped the puck away and leveled Blake at the same time. Jones Gets A Bounce – 2/9 @ Minnesota
Against the Wild, David Jones
scored his second goal of the night in unique fashion. The forward was credited with his 18th tally of the season when, while stationed behind the net, he flipped a puck into the crease area that bounced off Wild defender Nick Schultz and into the goal.
Budaj Moves Across – 2/9 @ Minnesota
After coming on in relief of Craig Anderson, Peter Budaj stopped all seven shots the Wild threw his way. This sequence was the most impressive, as the netminder kept the Avalanche within a goal by first stopping a Mikko Koivu tip before moving left-to-right to get his blocker on Matt Cullen’s follow-up attempt.
