Let your voice be heard in selecting Colorado’s “Play of the Week” each week during the season.
Plays from Peter Budaj, Wojtek Wolski and David Jones are this week's nominees.
We’ve offered up three choices, and now it's your turn to choose the top play by voting on the poll below or on the homepage of ColoradoAvalanche.com. At the end of the season, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine – once again, through fan voting – the Avalanche’s “Play of the Year”.
Check out this week’s three nominees, and be sure to vote for your favorite by Monday at 12:00 p.m. MT.
Budaj Keeps It Even - 12/27 vs. Detroit The Avs and Red Wings were tied at 3-3 in the third period when Peter Budaj came up with a pair of big stops. Detroit defenseman Brad Stuart took a shot from the top of the right circle that was tipped by Valtteri Filppula, but Budaj was able to make the save. The netminder then also stopped a rebound attempt by Jiri Hudler to keep the game tied.
Wolski Downs Wings - 12/27 vs. Detroit Wojtek Wolski took his familiar spot opening the shootout for Colorado and it once again paid dividends. On his attempt, Wolski faked to his backhand and Ty Conklin bit, so Wolski pulled back to his forehand and tucked one past the netminder’s outstretched right pad. It turned out to be the only goal in the shootout and gave Colorado a 4-3 win.
Jones Sticks To It - 12/29 vs. Nashville If at first you don’t succeed, simply put a shot on net. Forward David Jones carried the puck up the right boards and worked his way around a Nashville defender before trying to make a pass to Wolski during a 2-on-1. The puck never got there, hitting off the stick of Nashville’s Shea Weber and coming right back to Jones, who notched his sixth goal of the year.
