and Milan Hejduk
are this week's nominees.
Voting ends on Monday, Jan. 3 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!
Budaj Stops Kronwall – 12/27 vs. Detroit
The Avalanche and Red Wings were tied at 2-2 just over eight minutes into the second period when Detroit got this golden opportunity on the power play. Johan Franzen made a nice pass from the right circle through traffic and over to Niklas Kronwall, who was at the edge of the left circle. Kronwall quickly put a shot on goal, but netminder Peter Budaj quickly slid from left to right and made a big pad save to keep the game even. Duchene Ties Another – 12/27 vs. Detroit
has been showing a flair for the dramatic recently, scoring a handful of big goals in key situations. It was no different against Detroit, as Duchene fired a shot past Chris Osgood with 2:36 remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime and help the Avalanche gain a crucial point in an eventual 4-3 loss. Hejduk’s Shootout Winner – 12/30 @ Edmonton
The reliable veteran was once again called upon when the Avs and Oilers headed to a shootout, and not surprisingly, he came through. Hejduk skated straight in and beat Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk with a wrist shot to the glove side – a tally that proved to be the shootout’s only goal.
