Avalanche Play Of The Week: Dec. 17-23

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
ColoradoAvalanche.com is again asking for your help in determining the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" each week during the regular season. At the end of the year, a bracket-style tournament will be held to determine, via fan voting, the Avalanche's "Play of the Year."

Matt Duchene, Kevin Porter and Ryan Wilson are this week's nominees.

Voting ends on Monday, Dec. 27 at 3:00 p.m. MT, so be sure to cast your ballot today!

Duchene Downs Sens – 12/17 vs. Ottawa
Matt Duchene’s first career overtime goal gave Colorado a 6-5 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Duchene worked a give-and-go with linemate Tomas Fleischmann and received the return pass in the neutral zone before speeding down the ice and sending a wrist shot past goalie Brian Elliott from the lower left circle.

Porter’s Drive – 12/19 vs. Montreal
Mere seconds after a line change, Kevin Porter picked up a deflected Montreal breakout pass just outside the blue line. Porter barreled his way toward the net and around Canadiens defenseman Alexandre Picard before beating Carey Price through his five-hole. The goal tied the game at 2-2, leading to an eventual 3-2 Colorado victory.

Wilson Nails Brodziak – 12/23 vs. Minnesota
Late in the first period of Colorado’s contest against Minnesota, defenseman Ryan Wilson stepped up and leveled Wild forward Kyle Brodziak with a big check just inside the blue line. The two players would drop the gloves shortly thereafter and each received five minutes for fighting.
