The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club has postponed tonight's game against the Calgary Flames. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
"We have been in close consultation with the National Hockey League and the City of Denver and all parties realized that this was the best course of action given the current conditions," said Kroenke Sports Executive Vice President Paul Andrews. "The safety of our season ticket holders and all our fans and employees was the primary concern.
"The National Hockey League will announce a date for the rescheduled game in the near future and all tickets for tonight's game will be valid at that time," added Andrews.
The National Hockey League issued the following statement regarding tonight's postponement:
NEW YORK (Dec. 21, 2006) -- Tonight's scheduled National Hockey League game between the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center in snow-struck Denver, Colorado, has been postponed. The decision to postpone was made, in consideration of fan safety, after consulting with both clubs, the National Hockey League Players' Association and Denver city officials.
A new date for the game will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
