Spotlight On: Michael Bournival

Shawinigan’s Michael Bournival is off to a hot start in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Having played only three games so far due to his attendance at Colorado’s NHL training camp, Bournival has still managed to total six points (1g/5a).

Bournival actually played in one game for Shawinigan before departing for training camp in Denver, recording an assist in his club’s 5-4 victory over Montreal on Sept. 10.

Upon rejoining his junior team, the winger promptly notched three assists on Friday in a 5-4 loss to Rimouski. Bournival then scored his first goal of the season and added an assist during Sunday’s 6-4 triumph over Gatineau.

Despite playing in only half of Shawinigan’s six games, Bournival leads the club in assists and ranks second in points.
