Spotlight On: Andrew Agozzino

The 27-year-old is a veteran of the AHL and has registered 123 goals and 176 assists for a total of 299 all-time regular season points during his seven-season tenure. The Kleinburg, Ontario, native has also played in 10 NHL games with the Avalanche, notching three assists in that time.

Colorado Eagles

The Colorado Eagles fell to the Iowa Wild on Friday and Saturday, ending the Avalanche affiliate's four-game winning streak.
Andrew Agozzino netted two pucks in Friday night's game as the Eagles fell 6-5 in overtime. David Warsofsky and Ryan Graves scored their first goals of the season in the opening period and Ty Lewis and Josh Dickinson were credited with the assists on Graves' marker. Mark Alt and Igor Shvyrev added helpers in the third stanza before Logan O'Connor assisted on Agozzino's second of the night. Colorado goaltender Spencer Martin made 28-of-34 saves as the Eagle's offense generated a season-high 55 shots on goal led by 23 in the first period.
Following the overtime loss, the Eagles fell 6-1 on Saturday. O'Connor and Agozzino both registered assists on Sheldon Dries' first goal of the season in his fifth AHL outing of the campaign. The game marked netminder Pavel Francouz's first loss of the season.

Utah Grizzlies

The Utah Grizzlies went 1-1-0 in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday against the Idaho Steelheads.
Travis Barron recorded a team-high (tied) four shots in Friday's outing as he made his season debut for Utah. Josh Anderson also skated for the Grizzlies as the team beat the Steelheads 3-2.
Joe Cannata did not play on Friday but started in net on Saturday, making 26-of-29 saves as Utah fell to Idaho 3-2 in overtime. Barron notched an assist and a shot as he skated alongside Anderson for the second game in a row.

NCAA

University of Notre Dame: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs edged the Fighting Irish 3-2 on Friday, with Cam Morrison notching two shots as he skated alongside Nate Clurman. Morrison, Clurman and Nick Leivermann all dressed in Saturday's outing and each skater registered at least a shot in the 3-1 loss.
Shane Bowers (Boston University): Shane Bowers recorded one shot and won 11-of-16 faceoffs on Friday when the Boston University Terriers fell 5-0 to the Providence College Friars. Bowers has notched one goal in four outings this season. The Terriers get back to action when they face Northeastern University on Thursday.
Cale Makar (University of Massachusetts):Cale Makar and the UMass Minutemen bested Merrimack College in back-to-back games starting on Friday night. Makar registered an assist on the Minutemen's second goal of the night on Friday, helping his team defeat Merrimack 5-1. Makar added his seventh and eighth assists of the campaign during Satuday's game. His second assist came at 19:27 of the third period to send the game into overtime. UMass ended up topping Merrimack 4-3 in the extra frame.
Sampo Ranta (University of Minnesota): The University of Minnesota Gophers lost 3-1 to University of North Dakota on Saturday in the 2018 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in Las Vegas. Ranta recorded his third point (first assist) of the year on the first goal of the night--a power play score in the second period--but his team was unable to answer three goals from North Dakota. The Gophers will meet the Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks for a home-and-home on Friday and Saturday.
Denis Smirnov (Penn State University): Smirnov notched his first goal of the campaign on Friday as his team took on the Princeton Tigers. His goal opened scoring for the night just 1:46 into the first period. The tally was followed up by three more goals from the Nittany Lions, lifting the team over the Tigers by a 4-2 score.
Tyler Weiss (University of Nebraska-Omaha): The Mavericks lost to the Arizona State Sun Devils on both Friday and Saturday. Both games saw nine goals, with Nebraska falling 6-3 on Friday and 7-2 on Saturday. Avalanche prospect Tyler Weiss did not dress in either game.

OHL

Brandon Saigeon (Hamilton Bulldogs):Saigeon continued to rack up the points this weekend as the Bulldogs faced the Oshawa Generals and North Bay Battalion on Friday and Sunday, respectively. On Friday, Saigeon notched two goals, including his third short-handed tally of the season, and earned the second star of the game as Hamilton lost 5-3 to the Generals. Saigeon added his 25th point of the season on Satuday, an assist on the first tally of the night. Ultimately, the Bulldogs lost again, falling 3-2 to North Bay.

WHL

Nick Henry (Regina Pats): Nick Henry and the Regina Pats went 1-2-0 in three games this weekend. Henry had a multi-point night on Friday, scoring on the power play and registering an assist, but his team ultimately fell 8-5 to the Medicine Hat Tigers. He scored again on Saturday, notching the first answer to the Prince Albert Raiders' six goals. Regina could not respond to them all though, and lost 6-2. Sunday brought the Pats their first win at home, a 7-1 rout against the Swift Current Broncos. Henry added his sixth goal of the season in the second period, his second game-winner this campaign. The Avalanche prospect is on a five-game point streak, recorded four goals and four assists in those contests. Henry also has found the back of the net in each of his last four outings.

Russia

Nikolai Kovalenko (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL):Nikolai Kovalenko logged 11:04 of ice time on Tuesday as Lokomotiv Yaroslavl beat Metallurg Magnitogorsk 3-2. The team played Traktor Chelyabinsk on Thursday, and both teams were held scoreless going into overtime. Kovalenko did not register any points but added 9:18 on the ice and has notched four goals in 15 games this season. He had 9:15 of ice time as Lokomotiv fell 2-1 to HC Sochi on Monday.
Danila Zhuravlyov (Bars Kazan, VHL):Bars Kazan fell 2-1 to Lada Togliatti on Wednesday before earning a 3-2 shootout win against CSK VVS Samara on Thursday. Danila Zhuravlyov has a plus-2 rating for the season but has yet to record a point for his team. He did not play on Monday as his team fell 3-2 in a shootout to Ermak Angarsk.
Shamil Shmakov (Sibirskie Snaipery, MHL): Shmakov did not dress in the only game his team played this week. Sibirskie Snaipery dominated over Sarmaty Orenburg earning a 7-0 win. This upcoming week, Sibirskie will face off against Kuznetskie Medvedi in a two-game series on Wednesday and Thursday.

Czech Republic

Petr Kvaca (Ceske Budejovice, Czech 2): Ceske Budejovice extended its win streak to six games, beating Slavia Praha 3-2 on Wednesday and Zubr Prerov 3-1 on Saturday but the stretch ended on Monday when the team fell 2-1 to Benatky nad Jizerou. Kvaca helped his team to an overtime win on Wednesday, stopping 21-of-23 shots. He did not play on Saturday or Monday. With 14 wins, Ceske Budejovice now stands at first in the league.

Finland

Justus Annunen (Hermes, Mestis): Hermes went 2-1-0 in three games this week. Justus Annunen did not dress on Wednesday, as his team edged out Roki for a 2-1 win. The goalie suited up on Friday and played the first half of the game as Hermes lost 4-1 to Leki. Annunen was not between the pipes on Sunday while his team won 5-4 in overtime against Peliitat.

Sweden

Adam Werner (Farjestad BK, SHL): Adam Werner started in both games Farjestad played this week, earning two wins and his first shutout of the season. On Thursday, Werner made 17 saves on 19 shots to help his team to a 5-2 victory over Rogle. Saturday's game saw Farjestad netting six goals as Werner stood strong in net. The goaltender stopped all 29 pucks sent his way. He owns a .927 save percentage and 1.80 goals-against average in four games this season.
Gustav Olhaver (Tingsryds AIF, Allsvenskan): Olhaver played in both of Tingsryds AIF's contests last week. The team lost 3-2 in a shootout to Bjorkloven on Wednesday. Tingsryds rallied from the loss to topple Almtuna 4-1 on Friday. Olhaver did not find the scoresheet this week but has one assist in 13 games this season.
