Spotlight On: Cam Morrison, LW, Notre Dame (Big Ten)

The Aurora, Ontario, native represented his home country of Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championship in 2015 and contributed four points (one goal, three assists) in seven appearances.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound left wing totaled 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in his freshman season at Notre Dame and produced 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) last year during his sophomore campaign in South Bend.
In his second season at Notre Dame in 2017-18, Morrison was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and helped the Fighting Irish capture the Big Ten championship and later advance to their second-straight NCAA Frozen Four.

Colorado Eagles

The Colorado Eagles swept a back-to-back series against the Ontario Reign on Friday and Saturday to improve their record to 4-1-1 in the opening weeks of the season.
The Eagles began the weekend set by scoring six straight goals in a 6-2 win on Friday at the Budweiser Events Center. A.J. Greer (one goal, two assists) and Mason Geertsen (three assists) both recorded three-point nights, while J.C. Beaudin added two tallies. Logan O'Connor also had a multi-point outing with a goal and an assist. Andrew Agozzino and Michael Joly also found the back of the net for Colorado, while David Warsofsky (one assist), Scott Kosmachuk (two assists) and Grayson Downing (one assist) picked up helpers as well. Goaltender Pavel Francouz stopped 33-of-35 shots in the win.
Colorado continued its winning ways on Saturday, as the team beat the Reign 5-3 for its fourth consecutive victory. Greer (three assists), Kosmachuk (two goals), Beaudin (one goal, two assists) and Ty Lewis (one goal, one assist) each registered multi-point efforts. Lewis and Martin Kaut scored their first professional goals in the game, and Mark Alt, Josh Dickinson and Nicholas Meloche all added assists in the win. Francouz made 22 saves on 25 shots and improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a 1.75 goals-against average and .941 save percentage.=
The Eagles will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on the Iowa Wild in a back-to-back starting on Friday.

Utah Grizzlies (ECHL)

The Utah Grizzlies went 1-0-1 in a two-game set at the Idaho Steelheads this weekend. Goaltender Joe Cannata stopped 25-of-31 shots in a 6-5 overtime loss on Friday, while Josh Anderson registered his first professional point with an assist in Utah's 2-1 victory the following night.
The Grizzlies are in first place in the Western Conference of the ECHL with a 3-0-1 record and host Idaho for two games this weekend.

NCAA

University of Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish faced off against the University of Nebraska Omaha in a two-game series this past weekend and were victorious in both contests. Notre Dame won on Friday by a 4-1 score, as Cam Morrison recorded one goal and two assists to bring his point total for the season to four (two goals, two assists). The next night, the Irish took home a decisive 8-2 win. Nick Leivermann did not play on Friday but suited up on Saturday and contributed two shots. Nate Clurman skated in both contests and had one shot and two blocks in Saturday's outing. UND's record now stands at 3-0-1, and the school will play a back-to-back against Minnesota-Duluth in South Bend, Ind., beginning on Friday.
Shane Bowers (Boston University): Shane Bowers tallied two goals, including the overtime game-winner in a 5-4 exhibition victory against the U.S. National Team Development Program under-18 squad on Friday. The Terriers fell 4-0 to Merrimack College on Saturday in their second game in as many days. Boston University will host Providence on Friday in its next regular-season game. Bowers has one goal in three NCAA contests this year.
Cale Makar (University of Massachusetts): Cale Makar had another big weekend as the UMass Minutemen beat Ohio State University by a score of 6-3 on Friday in the first game of a back-to-back set. Makar registered one goal and two assists in the win. He added a helper on the team's lone goal in a 3-1 loss the following night to the Buckeyes. UMass now owns a 3-1-0 record this season. The Minutemen will play Merrimack in a home-and-home, two-game series this weekend. Makar's eight points on the season is ranked tied for fourth nationally in scoring, and his three goals are tied for the most by a D-man in college hockey.
Sampo Ranta (University of Minnesota): Sampo Ranta found the back of the net on a power-play goal in the Golden Gophers' 7-1 exhibition win against Trinity Western University on Saturday. Minnesota begins a series against the University of North Dakota this weekend as the school returns to regular-season action, where Ranta has two goals in two games.
Denis Smirnov (Penn State University): Denis Smirnov helped the Nittany Lions to a two-game sweep of Niagara University last weekend. The Moscow, Russia, native recorded two shots on goal in the 8-2 win on Friday and reached the scorer's sheet with a helper in the 4-1 victory on Saturday. It was his first point of the season. Penn State has jumped out to a 4-0-0 record to start the 2018-19 campaign and will host Princeton on Friday in its next contest.

Tyler Weiss (University of Nebraska Omaha): Tyler Weiss has yet to play this season for the Mavericks. UNO played Notre Dame over the weekend and lost 4-1 on Friday and 8-2 on Saturday. Nebraska Omaha is 0-3-1 to begin the year and will face off against Arizona State for a back-to-back starting Friday in Tempe, Arizona.

OHL

Brandon Saigeon (Hamilton Bulldogs): Saigeon registered five points (one goal and four assists) in the three games the Hamilton Bulldogs played this past week. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old recorded three assists in a 7-6 shootout win against the Owen Sound Attack. Saigeon tallied a power-play goal in a 7-5 loss to the Sudbury Wolves on Friday and followed that effort with a helper as the Bulldogs fell 4-3 to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Grimsby, Ontario, native ranks sixth in the OHL with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) through 13 games and is currently on a five-game point streak (three goals, six assists). =

WHL

Nick Henry (Regina Pats): Nick Henry recorded three points (one goal, two assists) for the Regina Pats this week as the team went 0-3-0 in three games. On Wednesday, he led the team with seven shots on goal in a 4-0 loss to the Spokane Chiefs. The Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, native was awarded the second star of the game on Saturday after he recorded two assists, but the Pats fell 3-2 to the Moose Jaw Warriors. Henry netted the Pats' lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the Everett Silvertips on Sunday. Henry leads the squad with 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) this season and has recorded at least one point in nine of the 12 games this year.

Russia

Nikolai Kovalenko (Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL): Nikolai Kovalenko logged 12:40 of ice time as Lokomotiv Yaroslavl beat Admiral by a score of 4-0 on Thursday. The forward played in 12:15 in a 2-1 overtime loss on Saturday to Avtomobilist. Kovalenko was held scoreless in both contests but has four goals in 12 games of KHL action this year.
Danila Zhuravlyov (Bars Kazan, VHL): Danila Zhuravlyov helped Bars Kazan to a 4-3 win over Diesel in its only action of the week. The defenseman has yet to record a point in 15 games this season. He does have a plus-3 rating while averaging 14:38 of ice time.
Shamil Shmakov (Sibirskie Snaipery, MHL): Shamil Shmakov did not appear in any of the three games this week for Sibirskie Snaipery. The team prevailed in a 3-1 win against Stalnye in the first game of a back-to-back on Thursday but then dropped a 4-3 shootout contest in the second game. The club finished the week with a 2-0 victory over Sarmaty on Sunday. His only game this season came on Sept. 29 when he made 30-of-34 saves against Avto.

Czech Republic

Petr Kvaca (Ceske Budejovice, Czech 2 league): Kvaca made 19-of-20 saves in Ceske's 4-1 victory this Monday against Dukla Jihlava. He did not play earlier in the week when his club won 3-2 against Vstin on Wednesday. The goaltender has a 4-3 record, 1.63 goals-against average, .921 save percentage and a shutout in seven contests his year.

Finland

Justus Annunen (Hermes, Mestis league): Justus Annunen did not see action in Hermes' 4-2 loss to KeuPa HT on Wednesday. The netminder did not finish Friday's contest against SaPKo as he was relieved after making six saves in a 7-2 loss. Annunen bounced back on Saturday however, stopping 17-of-22 shots in Hermes' 8-5 victory to get the club got back in the win column.

Sweden

Adam Werner (Farjestad BK, SHL): Adam Werner did not appear in Farjestad BK's two wins this week. The club beat Orebro 6-3 on Thursday and was victorious against Djurgarden by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.
Gustav Olhaver (Tingsryds AIF, Allsvenskan league): Gustav Olhaver played in both of Tingsryds AIF's contests last week. Tingsryds lost 2-1 to IK Pantern on Wednesday and fell 4-2 to AIK on Monday.
