Will Butcher (University of Denver): The University of Denver (22-6-4) and Will Butcher had a successful weekend with a series sweep of the Miami Red Hawks, helping DU to the No. 1 ranking in the nation. Butcher finished the series with a goal and three assists, earning NCHC Defenseman of the Week honors. On Friday, the Pioneers beat the Red Hawks 5-2 as Butcher recorded a three-point game with one goal and two assists. On Saturday, DU again defeated Miami by a 5-2 score with Butcher picking up an assist in the match. Butcher leads the team in scoring with 30 points after registering six goals and 24 assists in 32 contests this season. Butcher was named as a finalist for the NCAA Senior CLASS Award last Friday. The 10 finalists for the award represent student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and in their sport that exemplify a community, character, classroom and competition attitude.
Tyson Jost (University of North Dakota): The University of North Dakota (15-13-3) took on the Western Michigan Broncos this week but lost both games. The Fighting Hawks fell 4-2 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday. Tyson Jost had two assists in Saturday's loss, while Friday's game represented his first contest back in the lineup since being injured on Jan. 20 versus Minnesota Duluth. He has registered 11 goals and 15 assists in 24 competitions this season.
Cam Morrison (University of Notre Dame): The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish are now 18-9-5 after going 1-0-1 in their two games this past week against the Providence Friars. The Fighting Irish skated past Providence 4-1 on Friday, while Saturday's game ended in a 3-3 tie. Avalanche prospect Cam Morrison had the game-tying goal at 8:40 of the third period to force the contest to OT. Morrison has eight goals and eight assists in 32 outings this year.
