The Colorado Avalanche held a 33-15 advantage in shots on goal but fell 3-1 to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday at Honda Center.
The Avs trailed 2-0 at the second intermission but only allowed one shot on goal in the final period. Colorado scored with 5:14 remaining to cut the deficit in half but couldn't complete the comeback. Mikko Rantanen tallied for the Avalanche and Philipp Grubauer made 12 saves.
Jakob Silfverberg and Rickard Rakell scored in the first and second frames, respectively, for Anaheim. Hampus Lindholm tallied into an empty net with 1:40 remaining, the Ducks only shot of the third period. John Gibson made 32 saves.

Colorado returns to Ball Arena to host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday and Thursday.

ROSTER REPORT

After missing three games with a minor upper-body injury, Andre Burakovsky returned to the lineup and began the game on a trio with J.T. Compher and Brandon Saad. Nazem Kadri centered a line with Matt Calvert and Valeri Nichushkin, while Pierre-Edouard Bellemare was between Tyson Jost and Joonas Donskoi. On defense, Conor Timmins reentered the lineup on a pairing with Greg Pateryn. Ryan Graves was the healthy scratch.

INJURY UPDATE

Andre Burakovsky returned to the lineup while goaltender Pavel Francouz remains out and has yet to skate after suffering a lower-body injury at Monday's practice.

UP NEXT

The Avalanche returns home to host the San Jose Sharks for a two-game set at Ball Arena on Tuesday and Thursday.
