Faceoff Colorado Eagles NHL 20 Simulation

An organizational showdown is taking place this Wednesday as the Colorado Avalanche and its American Hockey League affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, face off at virtual Pepsi Center at 7:30 p.m. MT in a game simulation of EA Sports' NHL 20.

The Avalanche won 5-2 in an NHL matchup against the Calgary Flames in the club's last digital contest on May 27. Nathan MacKinnon (goal and assist) and Matt Calvert (two assists) both had multi-point outings, while Avs goaltender Philipp Grubauer made 25 saves in the victory.

The real-life Eagles finished the season in second place in the Pacific Division standings with a 34-18-3 record and 72 points after 56 games. The AHL cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign on May 11 due to the COVID-19 public health crisis.

T.J. Tynan finished as the leading scorer for the Eagles with 47 points (five goals, 42 assists) while defenseman and second-team AHL All-Star Jacob MacDonald was second with 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists). Sheldon Dries led the club in goals with 21 and also contributed 14 assists to finish tied for third on the squad in scoring with Erik Condra (16 goals, 19 assists).

Three goaltenders saw action in net for AHL Colorado during the campaign, with Adam Werner (18-10-1, 2.92 goals-against average, .909 save percentage) and Hunter Miska (16-6-3, 2.48 goals-against average, .924 save percentage) seeing the majority of the action between the pipes.

The game will once again include commentary from Altitude TV broadcasters Marc Moser and Peter McNab and has features that are unique to the in-arena experience at Pepsi Center. Viewers will be able to stream the contest on the Avalanche's Twitch.tv channel, as well as on the team's Facebook,
