The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has claimed forward Marko Dano on waivers from the Winnipeg Jets.
Dano, 23, played 23 games for Winnipeg in 2017-18, tallying three points (2g, 1a). A first-round pick (27th overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2013 NHL Draft, Dano has totaled 45 points (19g, 26a) in 130 career NHL contests with Columbus, Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg. The 5-foot-11, 212-pound center has also suited up in 89 career American Hockey League games with the Springfield Falcons, Rockford IceHogs and Manitoba Moose, collecting 50 points (17g, 33a). He's tallied two points (0g, 2a) in five AHL postseason contests.
Prior to playing in North America, Dano spent parts of two seasons with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League, recording 12 points (6g, 6a) in 78 outings from 2012-14.
The Eisenstadt, Austria, native grew up in Slovakia and has represented the country in multiple international events, including the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he led Slovakia with nine points (4g, 5a) in six tournament games. He also represented Slovakia at the 2013 and 2015 IIHF World Championships.
