DETROIT--Samuel Girard is set to play in his 100th NHL game tonight as the Colorado Avalanche begins a four-game road trip at the Detroit Red Wings.
The defenseman logged a career-high 26:36 of ice time in his last game, a 3-2 overtime loss for the Avs on Friday against the St. Louis Blues. He has 35 points (six goals, 29 assists) in his first 99 games played and will be paired with Erik Johnson tonight on the blue line.

Head coach Jared Bednar said after Colorado's morning skate that Tyson Barrie remains out with a lower-body injury. Barrie has missed the last three outings with the ailment and has 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 23 contests this campaign.
Semyon Varlamov will be in net for Colorado. He is 5-0-1 in his last six starts, which included a five-game winning streak from Nov. 11-27.
