Joe Sakic 2016 NHL Draft Buffalo podium

The Colorado Avalanche enters the 2020 NHL Draft with six selections, including the 25th overall pick. This year's entry draft will take place virtually on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6-7.
Colorado enters the annual selection with a pick each in the first (25th overall), third (75th), fourth (118th), fifth (149th), sixth (167th) and seventh rounds (211th).

The Avalanche has drafted in the No. 25 spot on three occasions in franchise history, selecting goaltender Marc Denis in 1995, defenseman Peter Ratchuk in 1996 and left wing Mikhail Kuleshov in 1999.
The picks in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh rounds are Colorado's while the selection in the third round was originally the Toronto Maple Leafs' and the sixth-rounder came from the Florida Panthers.
Colorado presently does not have a second-round selection after sending its own pick (No. 56) along with Arizona's third-rounder (previously acquired along with Kevin Connauton for Carl Soderberg) and Scott Kosmachuk to the Washington Capitals on June 28, 2019 in exchange for Andre Burakovsky.
The first round of the 2020 NHL Draft will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 6, beginning at 5 p.m. MT (NBCSN, Sportsnet, TVA Sports). Rounds 2-7 will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, starting at 9:30 a.m. MT (NHL Network, Sportsnet One).
The 2020 NHL Draft marks the first time the event has been held on days other than Friday, Saturday or Sunday since the 1994 draft, which was held on a Tuesday and Wednesday at the Hartford Civic Center.
