Anderson's Save Named Play of the Week

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Craig Anderson's big stop on San Jose center Joe Thornton was named the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the Oct. 30-Nov. 5 timeframe, gathering 37.41% of fan votes.

Anderson's save beat out a goal by Marek Svatos against Phoenix (32.71%) and a Matt Duchene short-handed tally against San Jose (29.88%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans.

Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Anderson Robs Thornton – 10/30 @ San Jose
Craig Anderson came up with this big first-period save on San Jose’s Joe Thornton to keep the game scoreless. With the Sharks on a power play, Dany Heatley made a quick pass to Thornton, who was situated to Anderson’s left. The center threw a hard wrister at the net, but Anderson quickly moved across his crease and made a strong glove save.
