The American Hockey League today announced its 2007-2008 regular-season schedule. The 2007-08 campaign will be the AHL's 72nd year of operation, and will feature an all-time high of 29 teams.
The Colorado Avalanche's new American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters, open their 80-game slate with a home contest on Oct. 6 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Quicken Loans Arena at 7:30 p.m. EDT. Lake Erie will compete in the Western Conference's North Division during it's inaugural 2007-08 campaign.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 83 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the sixth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2006-07.Click here
