A Look Back: Wolski's Season in Review

Throughout the offseason, ColoradoAvalanche.com will highlight the Avalanche's players and look back at their accomplishments during the 2007-08 campaign through a series of "Season in Review" features.


This week's subject is Wojtek Wolski. The forward finished third on the Avalanche in assists (30), fourth in points (48) and fifth in goals (18) while also sharing the team lead with six game-winning goals during the regular season. Wolski signed a two-year deal to remain with the Avalanche on July 2nd.

Oct. 3 vs. Dallas - For Openers
Paul Stastny had a hat trick, but it was Wolski who notched the deciding goal against the Dallas Stars, giving the Avs a 4-3 victory on opening night

Nov. 5 vs. Calgary - Dousing the Flames
Wolski produced one of his best efforts of the year, scoring the game-winning goal and adding a pair of assists as the Avs downed their Northwest Division rivals by a 4-1 count

Dec. 9 vs. St. Louis - Going For Two
The forward scored an even-strength goal in the second period and notched a power-play tally in the third – his only multi-goal game of the year – in a 9-5 victory at Pepsi Center
    


Dec. 21 vs. NY Rangers - Overtime Thriller
Wolski scored his first career overtime goal 1:16 into the extra session to give Colorado a 4-3 win over the visiting Rangers. He also logged 24:59 of ice time, tops among forwards in the contest
    

Feb. 9 @ Vancouver - Three's Company
The Zabrze, Poland, native matched a career-high with three assists and posted a +3 rating in Colorado’s 6-2 victory over the Canucks
   

March 6 vs. Anaheim - Lone Goal
Wolski took a pass from Andrew Brunette on the wing and directed it through Jonas Hiller’s pads, accounting for the game’s only goal in a 1-0 Avalanche win
   

March 24 vs. Calgary - Triple Digits
Wolski hit a milestone against the Flames by drawing an assist on Jordan Leopold’s second period power-play goal. The point was the 100th of the young forward’s career
   
 
April 1 @ Vancouver - Quick Strikes
Wolski’s goal at 14:32 of the second period – which came only 35 seconds after a Milan Hejduk strike – proved to be the game-winner in a crucial late-season win over the Canucks
   

April 9 @ Minnesota - Double the Fun
Wolski earned an assist on Kurt Sauer’s first-period tally and added another on Joe Sakic’s overtime winner during Game One of the Western Conference Quarterfinals against the Wild
   

April 15 vs. Minnesota - Playoff Winner
Continuing a trend from the regular season, Wolski notched the game-winner in Game Four. After Colorado forced a turnover, Wolski found the puck in the slot and ripped a shot past Niklas Backstrom
