This week's subject is defenseman Scott Hannan, who posted 21 points (2g/19a) during his first season in Colorado and was one of only two Avalanche players to skate in all 82 regular-season games. The steady blue liner led Colorado in even-strength time on ice (19:02) and ranked first on the club in blocked shots (153).
Oct. 3 vs. Dallas - Starting Off The defenseman logged a game-high 28:05 of ice time in his Colorado debut, totaling two shots on goal and a +2 rating in a 4-3 Avalanche win
Oct. 13 vs. Columbus - First Point Hannan notched his first point as a member of the Avalanche versus the Blue Jackets, assisting on Milan Hejduk’s second-period goal in a 5-1 Colorado triumph
Dec. 1 vs. Los Angeles - Twice Over With Colorado down 2-0 to Los Angeles, Hannan picked up assists on two straight Avalanche goals as the club climbed back to earn a 5-2 victory. It marked the defensman’s first multi-point game with the Avalanche
Dec. 5 @ Columbus - Red Light Hannan lit the lamp with 4:35 remaining in the third period against the Blue Jackets, evening the game at 4-4 with a blast from between the faceoff circles. The tally was Hannan’s first with Colorado
Dec. 9 vs. St. Louis - Putting Up Points The defenseman recorded a multi-point game for the third time in nine days, picking up two assists in a 9-5 Avalanche victory. The helpers ran Hannan’s total to seven points (1g/6a) in a six-game span
Jan. 5 vs. NY Islanders - OT Thriller Hannan earned an assist on Marek Svatos’ goal 2:05 into the extra session, propelling the Avs to a 2-1 overtime victory over the Islanders. The Richmond, B.C. native logged a team-high 18:33 of even-strength ice time in the game
Feb. 9 @ Vancouver - Positive Performance During a 6-2 win over division rival Vancouver, Hannan posted a season-high +3 rating while also leading the team with 21:30 of ice time and recording two blocked shots
March 4 vs. Vancouver- Dirty Work Living up to his billing as a hard-nosed defenseman, Hannan blocked seven shots and also recorded a fighting major during a 2-1 Avalanche victory over the Canucks
March 8 vs. Dallas - Joining the Rush With the Avalanche on the attack, Hannan went to the front of the net and put a backhander past Marty Turco at 7:30 of the third period to even the game at 1-1. The Avs went on to take a 3-1 decision from the Stars
March 9 vs. Dallas - Minutes Eater With the Avs short-handed along the blue line, Hannan logged a career-high 32:14 of ice time against the Stars. It was the most minutes by an Avs player since Adam Foote played 33:27 on Feb. 6, 2003 at Detroit
