Try Hockey For Free Saturday At Local Rinks

Hockey Week Across Amercia, presented by CCM, continues this weekend with events throughout Colorado and the United States.
Friday marks "Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day" while Saturday is "Try Hockey Day." The week-long celebration of the game in the U.S. concludes with "Celebrating Local Hockey Heros" on Sunday.
The Colorado Avalanche will help support area rinks on "Try Hockey Day," by giving children between the ages of 4 and 9 the chance to try youth hockey free of charge. There will be 10 locations in the state of Colorado that will hold free clincs, located in Breckenridge, Centennial, Colorado Springs, Denver, Durango, Grand Junction, Monument, Pueblo, Superior and Westminster (more info below).

Nationwide, more than 350 rinks will participate in Try Hockey For Free Day.
Avalanche mascot Bernie and members of the Ram Trucks Avalanche Ice Girls will also be joining in the fun on Saturday at Family Sports Center in Centennial, the Ice Centre at the Promenade in Westminster and Joy Burns Ice Arena at the University of Denver.
Equipment will be provided for children attending the Try Hockey clinics and no experience is required to participate. More information, including registration to RSVP and a list of all participating ice rinks, can be found at

It is highly suggested that interested participants RSVP beforehand so they can guarantee their spot at the clinic.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of USA Hockey's celebration of the sport, and the first time it's been extended for a week (Feb. 19-26). Each day featured a different theme, including fan favorites and serval new ones with the additional five days.
Hockey Week Across America began last Sunday with "NBC Sports' Hockey Day In America" and was followed by "Salute to Players" on Monday, "Salute to Coaches" on Tuesday, Salute to Officials" on Wednesday and "Salute to Local Rinks" on Thursday.
