OTTAWA --Connor McDavid had two goals and two assists to help the Edmonton Oilers to a 6-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.
McDavid has 94 points (36 goals, 58 assists), one fewer than Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov for the NHL lead.

"I'm actually running out of answers, creative answers, to describe him," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said of McDavid. "It's just a remarkable effort."
Drake Caggiula scored twice, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a goal and two assists, and Cam Talbot made 33 saves for the Oilers (33-36-5), who are 6-2-1 in their past nine games. Edmonton is 17 points behind the Anaheim Ducks for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
"It was a pretty fun night for our group," Nugent-Hopkins said. "There were times where we took our foot off the gas a little bit, but I think overall it was a solid night."

Matt Duchene and Filip Chlapik scored, and Craig Anderson made 32 saves the Senators (26-36-11), who lost their third straight and were eliminated from playoff contention.
McDavid made it 2-0 at 5:10 of the second period, beating Anderson blocker side from the slot.
"We just didn't have an individual answer for McDavid," Senators coach Guy Boucher said. "You get young guys that are doing their very best, [Thomas] Chabot held his own for a period of the game, but that's what people want to know, what it is when you're missing vets."
Duchene made it 2-1 at 4:43 of the third period when he split two Oilers defensemen and scored glove side on Talbot on the power play.
Nugent-Hopkins one-timed a pass from McDavid on a 2-on-1 to give the Oilers a 3-1 lead at 4:51, and Ty Rattie scored 38 seconds later to make it 4-1.

"They scored one, we scored right after, and then we scored another one right away," Caggiula said. "It's a good bounce back for the guys and overall, it was a pretty good game."
Caggiula extended the lead to 5-1 at 6:34 with a power-play goal.
Chlapik redirected Marian Gaborik's initial shot for his first NHL goal to make it 5-2 at 14:23. Bobby Ryan got an assist for his 500th NHL point.
"He told me before last game that if he gets an assist on my first goal it'll be his 500th," Chlapik said. "I'm really lucky that I can be a part of it and it's a special moment for him, too."
McDavid scored five-hole on Anderson from the right circle at 16:40 to make it 6-2.
Caggiula scored after knocking in a loose puck in the crease to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 8:23 of the first period.
