ST. PAUL- Minnesota Wild General Manager Paul Fenton today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has claimed defenseman Anthony Bitetto (pronounced bih-THE-toh) off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

Bitetto, 28 (7/15/90), tallied three assists, 23 blocked shots and 40 hits in 18 games with Nashville this season. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Island Park, New York has collected 19 points (2-17=19), 122 blocked shots, 194 hits and 88 penalty minutes (PIM) in 114 career games with the Predators. He also skated in all 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games with Nashville in 2016. Bitetto played two seasons (2010-12) at Northeastern University and recorded 35 points (7-28=35) in 72 contests. He was named to the 2010-11 Hockey East All-Rookie Team and led team defensemen in goals and points during his sophomore season.
Bitetto was selected by Nashville in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
