SIXTH ANNUAL WILLIE O'REE ALL-STAR WEEKEND
FACT SHEET

What: The Willie O'Ree All-Star Game is an annual event that honors, Willie O'Ree, the first black player in the NHL, and celebrates the sport and its diverse young fans. The weekend festivities allow selected players from each of the NHL DIVERSITY programs to interact with NHL players in addition to attending a NHL game. The event showcases the success of the individual inner-city programs, as their top players are given an opportunity to compete.
When: February 16-17, 2001
Where: Tampa, FL, USA
Game Info: SuperSkills: 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 16 at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum; Willie O'Ree All-Star players competing in four (4) skill events: Puck Control Relay, Fastest Skater, Rapid Fire, and Breakaway Relay.

Game I: 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 16 at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum, the practice facility of the Tampa Bay Lightning

Game II: 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 17 at the Ice Palace, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning (preceding the 7:30 p.m. New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning game)

Players: Twenty-four (24) 10, 11 and 12-year old boys and girls from NHL Diversity programs across North America are chosen on the basis of their citizenship, academics, and dedication to hockey.
