Caps-Arena

The Washington Capitals home was renamed Capital One Arena on Wednesday.
The building, which opened in 1997 as MCI Center, had been known as Verizon Center since 2006.

Signage around the arena is expected to be completed by the fall.
"Capital One is one of the most influential local businesses in our region over the last two decades, so we couldn't be more pleased to partner with another homegrown company to create more incredible memories for sports fans, music fans, families and friends all across our region," Capitals owner Ted Leonsis said.
In addition to the Capitals, the arena also is the home of the Washington Wizards of the NBA, the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and Georgetown University basketball.
