Victor Rask scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to give the Hurricanes a 3-1 road win Thursday and end a two-game losing streak.
Washington's loss ended a five-game winning streak and a 10-game home winning streak that was the longest in the NHL this season.
The game will be the third in 11 days between the two teams. The Capitals won 5-4 in overtime at PNC Arena on Jan. 2.

Status report

Neither team held a morning skate. … Boyd was recalled from Hershey of the American Hockey League on Friday. … Pesce was placed on injured reserve and Wallmark was recalled from Charlotte of the American Hockey League on Friday. Pesce was injured during the morning skate Thursday. … Ryan did not return after being hit from behind by Wilson during the third period Thursday and coach Bill Peters did not update his condition after the game. If Ryan can't play, Wallmark could enter the lineup. Jooris also could be shifted to center and Stempniak could make his season debut. He's been out all season because of an upper-body injury.
