Rob Blake Canada 2006 Olympics Turin Winter Games

Former Colorado Avalanche defenseman Rob Blake was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame on Sunday during the final day of the 2018 World Championship.
A Triple Gold Club member, Blake won World Championships with Team Canada in 1994 and 1997 and helped his country end a 50-year drought with an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the Avs' 2001 Stanley Cup championship squad.

The Simcoe, Ontario, native played 36 games at five World Championships (1991, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999) and 18 contests at three Olympics (1998, 2002, 2006). He also helped Canada to second-place finishes at the 1991 World Championship and 1996 World Cup of Hockey.
Blake ranks fifth all-time in Avalanche franchise history for scoring by a defenseman with 208 points (62 goals, 146 assists) in 322 games from 2001 to 2006. He was one of six rear guards to be named to the organization's 20th Anniversary Team during the 2015-16 campaign.
Blake played 1,270 career NHL contests with the Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks and ranks 19th in league history in defensemen scoring with 777 points (240 goals and 537 assists).
He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.

Seven others were honored alongside Blake at Sunday's ceremony in Copenhagen, Denmark. Former NHLers Daniel Alfredsson (Sweden), Chris Chelios (United States) and Jere Lehtinen (Finland) and builders Philippe Lacarriere (France) and Bob Nadin (Canada) were inducted into the hall of fame.
Jesper Damgaard (Denmark) received the Richard "Bibi" Torriani Award for an outstanding career from a non-top hockey nation, and Kirovs Lipmans (Latvia) was named the winner of Paul Loicq Award, which is given for contributions to the IIHF and international ice hockey.
