DETROIT (AP) -The Calgary Flames turned a late two-goal deficit into two big points in the Western Conference standings.

Olli Jokinen and Mike Cammalleri scored shootout goals to give Calgary a 6-5 comeback victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. Jokinen, recently acquired from Phoenix, also had two goals in regulation, giving him 26 for the season.

Calgary overcame a 4-2 deficit with three goals in a 2:02 span late in the third period. Jamie Lundmark's second goal, and fourth of the season, gave the Flames the lead with 1:20 left. But Dan Cleary tied it for Detroit with 42 seconds left, poking in a loose puck in the crease.

Lundmark also had an assist, Daymond Langkow added a goal, and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 40 shots to help Calgary snap a three-game losing streak.

"Nobody panicked. We just went out there the last 15 minutes and rolled (the lines) quick and kept pushing hard," Lundmark said. "We finally got a couple of goals and things turned around for us. It was a big win ... a big two points."

Nicklas Lidstrom had a goal and two assists, and Henrik Zetterberg, Mikael Samuelsson and Valtteri Filppula also scored for Detroit, which moved a point ahead of San Jose in the Western Conference and tied Boston for the overall NHL lead.

Datsyuk added three assists and a shootout goal, and Ty Conklin made 28 saves. He entered the game with a 13-game home winning streak.

"I thought we got too passive (in the third period). We were backing in too much and giving them the red line to dump it in," Lidstrom said. "They were forechecking hard. We got away from playing our system late in the game."

Calgary captain Jarome Iginla said the Flames sometimes give the Red Wings too much respect and play too simple a game. But Calgary opened it up in the third.

"In the third period, we just let it go. We started making plays, nice plays, carrying the puck, moving the puck," Iginla said. "That's what the Red Wings do from the drop. We haven't done that much lately, but we got back to it in the third period tonight. We've got to do that more."

The Red Wings, who had 28 shots - the most ever given up by Calgary in a period - in the first period, only managed two in the third, while the Flames had 17 shots in the third period.

"They kept coming at us, we couldn't get it out of our zone," Brian Rafalski said. "We couldn't sustain any pressure in our zone and it wore us out."

The Red Wings also had 22 straight shots in a 9:43 span of the first period and the Flames could only manage four for the entire period.

Zetterberg and Samuelsson scored power-play goals for Detroit but Calgary killed 4:00 of a 5-on-3 short-handed situation. Samuelsson scored on a one-man advantage after the 5-on-3 had ended.

"I'm proud of the way we responded to get through the debacle of the first period," Calgary coach Mike Keenan said. "You have to stay persistent and focused and really work to come back on a team like this. We dominated the third period." Jokinen scored his first goal, on a power play, to open the scoring.

Notes: Detroit RW Tomas Holmstrom played his 800th game. ... Cleary was helped off with an ankle injury, holding his right leg off the ice, after he was shoved into the boards from behind by Dion Phaneuf with 9:08 left in the first period. Phaneuf received a 5-minute boarding penalty. Cleary returned in the second period. It was his 600th game. ... Calgary LW Mike Cammalleri played at the University of Michigan. .. Flames RW David Moss is from the Detroit suburb of Livonia. ... Lidstrom tied Hall of Famer Larry Murphy for seventh place in power-play goals by a defenseman with 114. Murphy is a television analyst for the Red Wings. ... Detroit has 82 power-play goals this season, one more than last season.
