ST. LOUIS (AP) - Calgary defenseman Jordan Leopold scored his first goal of the season and to Flames coach Darryl Sutter's way of thinking, it's long overdue.

"I don't know that it's nice but I'd say it's about time," Sutter said. "For as much as time as he gets on power plays and playing with defenseman Robyn Regehr, you'd think at this point he'd have one somehow."

Leopold had a goal and two assists and defenseman Roman Hamrlik scored two goals Thursday night as the Calgary Flames routed the reeling St. Louis Blues 7-2. The Blues have lost their last five and have been outscored 13-2 in their last two games.

Leopold was credited with the first goal of the game but a scorer's change in the break between periods took it away. The goal was credited Darren McCarty.

"Mac said he thought he got a piece of it so it wasn't a surprise," Leopold said. "We got the win and that's all that matters."

The Flames then scored four goals in the second period to turn the game into a rout.

Shean Donovan scored on a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle at 3:52 of the second period, giving Calgary a 2-0 lead.

The Blues pulled Lalime to cheers from the crowd after the Flames took a 3-0 lead on 14 shots at 10:11 in the second period. Reinhard Divis came in to relieve Lalime, who was beaten when Leopold redirected a shot by Jamie Lundmark for a power-play goal.

"I ended up coming back to redeem myself," said Leopold, who had played in 69 games this season. "After the period in the lockerman, Tony Amonte came in and said, 'I think I got a piece of that one.' It was a kind of a running joke I guess.

"It's nice to get it over with. I mean, I've been working to get one since the Olympic break. I didn't get the right break or right bounce until tonight."

His teammates were pleased for him.

"We are absolutely happy for him to score," Hamrlik said. "He make a great play in the second period to get his goal."

Divis gave up two goals on five shots he faced in the period. Hamrlik blasted a slap shot by Divis at 15:13. Regehr scored a power-play goal at 18:40 for a 5-0 Calgary advantage.

"It's one of those nights, the last couple have been," said Blues winger Dallas Drake. "We make a mistake and it ends up in our net. That's just the bottom line. There's no real reason or rhyme for it. They scored on their good opportunities and we haven't even come close."

St. Louis broke through with a goal at 2:43 of the final period when Mike Glumac scored.

Calgary got the goal back with its third power-play goal when Chuck Kobasew scored his 18th goal of the season at 4:24.

The Flames added a short-handed goal by Hamrlik at 8:30.

"I scored on some lucky shots tonight, that's all I can say," Hamrlik said. "I just aim at the net and they went through. We are happy to get the two points. That's all that matters."

Keith Tkachuk finished the scoring with a power-play goal at 14:16. It was his first goal in 10 games.
