ST. LOUIS (AP) - Brent Seabrook will certainly savor his first NHL goal.

The rookie scored 35 seconds into overtime, giving the Chicago Blackhawks a 6-5 victory Wednesday night over the slumping St. Louis Blues.

``It's awesome,'' Seabrook said. ``I'm thrilled right now. I'm going to keep that puck.''

Martin Lapointe had a goal and two assists, and rookie Pavol Vorobiev added a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who blew a three-goal lead in the third period but recovered to snap a four-game skid that included three consecutive losses to Detroit.

Chicago (4-9-0) won for only the second time in eight games and improved to 1-6 against Central Division foes.

``The guys deserve a lot of credit,'' Blackhawks coach Trent Yawney said. ``I mean, they calmed down and went back and played for the win. They played to win as opposed to playing not to lose after a lucky goal goes in. To keep our poise and composure like we did was impressive.''

Seabrook hit a wrist shot from the right circle to the low left corner of the net after taking a pass from Vorobiev for the game-winner.

``Pavol made a great pass,'' Seabrook said. ``I was trying to get open and he found my stick.''

The Blues have lost six straight games.

Chicago goalie Craig Anderson made his second start of the season and earned his first victory. Nikolai Khabibulin was in goal for Wednesday's loss at Detroit and the previous three defeats.

``I know my role is to be the backup and play when called upon. Khabibulin won a Stanley Cup, he's the best goalie,'' Anderson said. ``I try my hardest in practice to stay focused. I make sure I'm ready to go.''

The game was filled with penalties. The Blackhawks went 3-for-12 on the power play, while St. Louis was 3-for-11.

``A goalie has to play well now to win in this league,'' Anderson said. ``A goalie has to step up and be the best penalty killer out there.''

Chicago held a 5-2 lead early in the third period, but St. Louis rallied to tie it.

The Blues scored their third power-play goal at 8:42 when Mike Sillinger beat Anderson in front of the net. Peter Sejna, recalled Tuesday from the minors, scored at 17:34 to make it 5-4.

Jamal Mayers scored at 18:05 by whacking in a loose puck in front of the net to tie the score at 5.

``We fought back and tied the game,'' Blues coach Mike Kitchen said. ``That was encouraging. Our penalty killing was discouraging.''

A power-play goal gave Chicago a 1-0 lead at 14:11 of the first period. Standing in front of the crease, Lapointe deflected in a slap shot by Matt Ellison over the shoulder of Blues goalie Patrick Lalime, who missed Saturday's game at Los Angeles with a bruised knee.

``It's a different game and, of course, it's not the best,'' Lalime said. ``It's all about power plays and penalty killing, it seems more and more. You do nothing and then all of a sudden it's 5-on-3 and they score a goal so it's a different game out there and you have to be careful not to take too many penalties.''

Tyler Arnason's slap shot from the left circle at 3:31 of the second period gave Chicago a 2-1 lead. Lapointe earned the assist with a pass from behind the net.

The Blues came back to tie it at 2 on two power-play goals.

St. Louis cut the lead to 2-1 when Dean McAmmond scored at 8:56 when the Blues had a two-man advantage. Anderson blocked a shot by Sillinger but left the puck in front of the net and McAmmond tapped it in for his fifth goal. Scott Young tied it at 17:45 on a slap shot from the left circle.

The Blackhawks went ahead 3-2 just 32 seconds later on a power-play goal by Jaroslav Spacek.

Chicago took a two-goal lead at 2:01 of third on a goal by Vorobiev. His shot was deflected into the net by Lalime, who got a glove on the puck, but it bounced in off the crossbar.

Kyle Calder picked up a loose puck along the right boards and scored a power-play goal on a wrist shot at 3:28, putting the Blackhawks ahead 5-2.

Notes: Blues C Doug Weight was scratched with post-concussion symptoms and is day-to-day. He left Saturday's game in Los Angeles after hitting his head. ... Blues captain Dallas Drake served the second game of a two-game suspension for a hit on Anaheim's Corey Perry. ... Chicago improved to 2-6 on the road.
