Competing in his first Olympic Games, Hornqvist is the second youngest player on the Swedish roster at 23 years of age. At the time the roster was named (Dec. 27), Hornqvist was tied for third among Swedish NHLers in goals (13).
He led the team with six goals at the 2008 World Championship and first competed for his country at the 2007 World Junior Championships.
It's a tribute to him, and everything he's done and deserved is coming to fruition tonight with his jersey in the rafters. He's going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. And I said today, if he's not, take my stuff out. If he doesn't deserve to be in there first ballot, no one does. Except for (Wayne) Gretzky, I guess.
