Quick will be playing in his first international hockey competition. He is the first University of Massachusetts alumni to make a U.S. Olympic hockey team in 86 years - and just the fourth in history. Thomas Pock of UMass played for Austria in the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.

In 2007, he became only the second goaltender in ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) history to record his first win, first shutout and score his first goal in the same game.

Playing for my favorite team growing up, I've probably scored that goal a million times in my driveway. It feels good to actually do it in real life.

— Dale Weise, who grew up a Canadiens fan, on scoring the overtime winner in Montreal's 5-4 victory against Tampa Bay in Game 1
