I said; 'Yeah, I can play defense.' He put me in the first pair, and with good players around me it helped me a lot.&quot; <br /> <br /> <a name="he"></a><b>HE SAID IT</b><br /> On being named an All-Star starter in 2008: &quot;You have to smile. It's a big thing for me and I hope it's not the last time. I'm still young and I'll try to do my best.&quot;<br /> <br /> <a name="they"></a><b>THEY SAID IT</b><br /> Montreal head coach Guy Carbonneau: &quot;Andrei is one of our quiet leaders, not a rah-rah guy but someone who shows up and plays hard every night. And he's maturing. I think he sees now that he's the guy we look at to strengthen the defense corps and take a lot of ice time, whether 5-on-5, the power play or penalty-killing. He's playing up to his potential&quot; <br /> <br /> Montreal defenseman Mike Komisarek: &quot;Marky makes everyone around him better and he can turn a game around with one pass or one play ... he makes the types of plays only he can possibly make. His vision out there is amazing and he always seems to be in the right spot at the right time.&quot; <br /> <br /> Montreal captain Saku Koivu: &quot;He (shows) what kind of vision he has, and when you play with him, you have to expect a pass any time.&quot; <br /> <br /> <a name="news"></a><b>IN THE NEWS</b><br /> <a href="http://www.faceoff.com/story.html?id=fd60c75b-4913-470d-a169-e06465e02e7e&amp;add_feed_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.faceoff.com%2Fcolumnists.atom">Markov lets his play do the talking</a><br /> <br /> <a name="video"></a><b>VIDEO FEATURES</b><br /> <a href="http://canadiens.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?&amp;id=18056">HabsTV: Markov 2007-08 Season in Review</a><br /> <br /> <span class="txt14Strg">Career All-Star Game Statistics </span> <div id="asstatsbox" style="border: 1px solid rgb(161, 161, 161); margin: 4px 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; width: 660px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"> <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0" class="asstat"> <tbody> <tr class="headrw"> <td>SEASON</td> <td>TEAM</td> <td>Score</td> <td>R</td> <td align="center">GP</td> <td align="center">G</td> <td align="center">A</td> <td align="center">PTS</td> <td align="center">+/-</td> <td align="center">PIM</td> <td align="center">PP</td> <td align="center">SH</td> <td align="center">GW</td> <td align="center">SOG</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2007-08</td> <td>East</td> <td>8-7</td> <td>W</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">2</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center" class="right">2</td> </tr> <tr class="totrw"> <td colspan="4">All-Star Totals</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">1</td> <td align="center">2</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center">0</td> <td align="center" class="right">2</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> <script type="text/javascript">jQuery(function(){ jQuery('#asstatsbox').corner('6px'); });</script>
Quote of the Day

When we started our journey we made a commitment to our fans to be relevant and to see the Chicago Blackhawks become the best professional hockey organization. There are not two finer symbols of that than Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. The commitment we have made to these incredible young men is equal to the commitment they have made to our team, our fans, our entire organization and the city of Chicago.

— Chicago Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz on signing Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to contract extensions
