WHA rights traded to Ottawa (WHA) by Edmonton (WHA) for cash, September, 1972. Transferred to Toronto (WHA) after Ottawa (WHA) franchise relocated, May, 1973. Rights traded to St. Louis by Buffalo for cash, July 3, 1975. Placed on "voluntary retired" list after walking out on the team following game vs. NY Islanders, November 28, 1975. St. Louis refused to place Gratton on waivers, blocking his attempt to sign with Toronto (WHA). Signed as a free agent by NY Rangers after securing release from St. Louis, March 24, 1976.
