Getliffe decided to retire and Detroit was awarded the rights to Fern Gauthier as compensation, October 18, 1945. Signed as a free agent by St. Louis (AHL), October, 1946. Traded to Providence (AHL) by St. Louis (AHL) with Carl Liscombe, Eddie Bush and cash for Bill McComb and Russ Brayshaw, January 9, 1947.
