Analyst, NHL On The Fly



An NHL Hall-of-Famer and a four-time Stanley Cup® champion, Larry Murphy joins NHL On The Fly as an analyst.

Murphy's broadcast experience also includes his current role with FOX Sports Detroit where he has served as an analyst on selected Detroit Red Wings road telecasts and as a reporter during select home games since the 2003-04 season.

In 21 years in the NHL, Murphy was selected fourth overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 1980 and went on to achieve back-to-back championships with both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings.  He became only the fourth defenseman to score 1,000+ points in their career (1,216), set a new benchmark for regular season games played by a defenseman (1,615), and secured a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame with his consistent and reliable play.

Murphy also played for Team Canada at the 1987 Canada Cup where he contributed seven points to help Canada to victory.
