Dave Prior
Washington Capitals - Goaltending Coach
[ Back to Coaches Index ]

Dave Prior has spent 11 seasons with the Capitals organization working with the team’s goaltenders as well as goalie prospects throughout the minor-league system. Since his arrival, Washington goalies have posted three of the four lowest team goals against averages in club history. Under Prior's tutelage, Capitals goalie Olie Kolzig captured the 1999-00 Vezina Trophy.

Before joining the Capitals’ coaching staff, Prior worked as a goaltending coach for the Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets. He has also gained international experience mentoring goalies on the German National Team.

Before his NHL coaching days began, the native of Guelph, Ontario spent seven years working with the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
