One team will wear white jerseys, helmets and socks, with red trim throughout and red gloves and pants. The opposing team will wear dark blue jerseys with royal blue trim, navy blue helmets, gloves and pants and navy blue socks. The five primary colors in the uniforms – red, white, silver, royal blue and navy blue – correspond with colors found in most NHL team jerseys.

NEW YORK – The National Hockey League today announced the additional 36 All-Stars and 12 Rookies who will join fan-voted top six Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as Chicago Blackhawks Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith, in Raleigh for the 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend festivities.
The 42 All-Stars will play in the 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover on Sunday, Jan. 30 at the RBC Center. Each team will be comprised of 3 goalies, 6 defensemen and 12 forwards and will have one captain and two alternates to be chosen by the players and announced next week. The 12 NHL Rookies, along with the 42 All-Stars, will participate in the Honda NHL SuperSkills® on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the RBC Center.

Eric Staal and Cam Ward have been the most prominent on-ice duo in Raleigh, N.C. since Carolina won the Stanley Cup in 2006. Later this month, the Hurricanes captain and star goalie will represent the host city and team at the NHL's All-Star Weekend -- capped, of course, by the 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover, on Jan. 30 at RBC Center.
Staal and Ward were among the 48 players, including 12 rookies, chosen by the NHL's Hockey Operations Department to join the top six vote-getters in the 2011 NHL All-Star Fan Balloting presented by XM.
"I wanted to be in there. I wanted to make sure I performed well to start the season to ensure that I was going to be in the game," Staal told NHL.com. "I enjoy that experience with our fans. I have been at a few other All-Star Games and the hometown crowd shows a lot of love for their hometown players. Hopefully it'll be a good experience for me."

But today, Steven Stamkos, Marc-Andre Fleury, Tobias Enstrom and Dustin Byfuglien all share one very important thing in common -- they're all first-time All-Stars, joining 17 other players who will all make their initial All-Star appearance when All-Star Weekend kicks off Friday, Jan. 28.
Stamkos, the first pick of the 2008 Entry Draft, is following his breakout 51-goal season with 31 goals in his first 43 games this season, putting him on pace for 59.
After a rugged start, Fleury mostly has been flying ever since. He won 11-straight games in November and December, and rode the popularity that came with it to the third-most votes in All-Star fan balloting.
Then there are the Thrashers' twin All-Star defenders, Byfuglien and Enstrom. They were taken six spots apart at the 2003 Entry Draft, with the Thrashers selecting Enstrom with pick No. 239, followed by the Blackhawks picking Byfuglien at No. 245. From those auspicious beginnings, however, each has grown into deserving first-time All-Stars.

The answer isn't so simple, and that speaks volumes about a team that after Thursday's 4-2 victory in New Jersey had the most points-per-game (1.375) in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia has 55 points in 40 games as it battled Pittsburgh for Eastern Conference supremacy.
For all their succes, though, the Flyers don't have one defined all-star. Instead, they have several players who are having all-star caliber seasons.

NHL V.P. of Hockey and Business Development Brendan Shanahan believes the players taking part in NHL All-Star Weekend later this month will embrace the event with the same comedic edge, turning the three-night showcase into can't-miss entertainment.
"There is no intensity in that mustache boy shootout, but it really is entertaining," Shanahan, referring to the Penguins' monthly shootout competition we've seen documented on HBO, told NHL.com. "Let's stop trying to make an All-Star Game a real game and let's stop trying to compare it to a real game. If you enjoy watching the mustache boy shootout, you really could and should enjoy All-Star Weekend. They're still trying to score."
