Devils forward Gomez fined for elbowing

NEW YORK -- New Jersey Devils forward Scott Gomez has been fined $1,478.49, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for elbowing Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin during NHL Game No. 1163 in New Jersey on Friday, April 3, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 14:38 of the second period. Gomez was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Byfuglien suspended four games for cross-checking

NEW YORKWinnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been suspended for four games, without pay, for cross-checking New York Rangers forward J.T. Miller during NHL Game No. 1148 in Winnipeg on Tuesday, March 31, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:20 of the second period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Byfuglien will forfeit $111,827.96. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien will have a telephone hearing Thursday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for a hit against New York Rangers forward J.T. Miller during a game at MTS Centre on Tuesday.

Miller was hit by Byfuglien in front of the Winnipeg net at 17:23 of the second period. No penalty was assessed on the play and Miller remained in the game.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: Cross checking. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

Rangers' Glass fined for butt-ending

NEW YORK – New York Rangers forward Tanner Glass has been fined $3,897.85, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for butt-ending Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid during NHL Game No. 1116 in Boston on Saturday, March 28, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 20:00 of the third period. Glass was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for butt-ending.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Blue Jackets forward Boll suspended three games

NEW YORK – Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll has been suspended for three games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon during NHL Game No. 1093 in Columbus on Tuesday, March 24, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 4:02 of the second period.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Boll will forfeit $27,419.34. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll will have a hearing Thursday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon during a game at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday.

Maroon was hit by Boll at 4:02 of the second period in the Blue Jackets' 5-3 win. No penalty was assessed on the play and Maroon remained in the game.

Predators' Smith fined for high-sticking

NEW YORKNashville Predators forward Craig Smith has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for high-sticking Buffalo Sabres forward Jerry D'Amigo during NHL Game No. 1075 in Nashville on Saturday, March 21, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:50 of the first period. Smith was assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking on the play.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 10:58 of the third period. Kadri was assessed a minor penalty for illegal check to the head.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri will have a hearing Wednesday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Edmonton Oilers forward Matt Fraser during a game at Rexall Place on Monday.

Fraser was hit by Kadri at 10:58 of the third period in Edmonton's 4-1 win. Kadri received a two-minute minor penalty for an illegal check to the head.

Fraser left the game and did not return.

Chicago's Nordstrom banned two games for boarding

NEW YORK Chicago Blackhawks forward Joakim Nordstrom has been suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson during NHL Game No. 1011 in Glendale, Ariz., on Thursday, March 12, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 19:22 of the third period. Nordstrom was assessed a minor penalty for boarding.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Nordstrom will forfeit $6,630.82. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
