Blackhawks' Seabrook to have phone hearing Sunday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook will have a phone hearing Sunday for his hit on St. Louis Blues forward David Backes in Game 2 of their Western Conference First Round series on Saturday.

Seabrook received a major penalty for charging and a game misconduct at 15:09 of the third period for his hit on Backes, who was helped off the ice and was unable to return to the game. The Blues scored the tying goal with Seabrook in the penalty box and won the game 4-3 in overtime.

Bruins' Lucic fined $5,000 for spearing

NEW YORKBoston Bruins forward Milan Lucic has been fined $5,000 for spearing Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser during Game 1 of the teams' First Round Stanley Cup Playoffs series in Boston on Friday, April 18, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 19:55 of the second period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Flyers forward Hartnell fined $5,000 for spearing

NEW YORK – Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Hartnell has been fined $5,000 for spearing Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Bellemore in NHL Game No. 1222 in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 13, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 13:09 of the third period. Hartnell was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for spearing.

The fine money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Rupp suspended four games for illegal check to head

NEW YORK -- Minnesota Wild forward Mike Rupp has been suspended for four games, without pay, for a late illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie during NHL Game No. 1201 in Minnesota on Thursday, April 10, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The suspension includes the Wild's final regular-season game and first three Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The incident occurred at 10:30 of the second period. Rupp was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Rupp will forfeit $7,692.31. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Montreal's Murray faces disciplinary hearing Thursday

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Douglas Murray will have a hearing Thursday for his hit against Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mike Kostka during the third period Tuesday at Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Murray was issued a match penalty on the play at 17:47 of the third period.

The following grounds for the proposed supplemental discipline are being considered: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to these infractions accordingly upon further review.

The Lightning won the game, 3-1.
