Restricted free agent defenseman Dmitry Kulikov signed a three-year contract with the Florida Panthers on Friday. Financial terms were not released, but TSN reported the total value to be $13 million.

"He has so much ability and this is a fair contract, it's what what guys around the League are getting paid," general manager Dale Tallon told the Miami Herald. "Now it's time for him to make a statement and be a leader on our team. He has all the ability in the world. He just has to channel it in the right direction.

"We're happy to have him in the fold. He's a great kid, still a young guy. He has tremendous ability. It's hard to find those guys."

Forward Tyler Ennis signed a multiyear contract with the Buffalo Sabres, the team announced Thursday.

Terms were not disclosed, but multiple media outlets reported it's for five years and $23 million.

"It certainly wasn't straightforward," Sabres general manager Tim Murray said Friday. "The day we signed him we were calling back and forth every 10 minutes. Martin Brodeur 'still looking for the right fit': report

Goaltender Martin Brodeur remains one of the most prominent names on the NHL free-agent market. He said Thursday it could stay that way for a while.

"I'm still looking for the right fit, and the right fit might not come this summer, it might come later on in the fall," Brodeur told Yahoo Sports. "I'm pretty open-minded. Regardless of what happens, if I play or don't play, I'm ready for anything. I'm looking forward to a new challenge, regardless if it's outside of hockey or still in hockey with a different organization."

There are few apparent openings for a No. 1 goalie as Brodeur looks to move on from the New Jersey Devils, and many Stanley Cup threats seemingly have their backup in place.

"If I'm going to not play with a contender, then definitely I'd like to play a lot," the 42-year-old said. "I'm really open-minded about the situation I'm looking for, but it's pretty specific, and me and my agent (Pat Brisson) are kind of looking at different options."

"My personal goal is to come to training camp and compete for a spot," Butler told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I have no intention of playing in the American League, even though it's a two-way deal.
