Five players who won a championship for the United States last season in Slovakia will have a chance to win another one next month.

The United States roster for the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, to be held Aug. 11-16 in Czech Republic and Slovakia, features five players who won the 2013 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Slovakia: forwards Brock Boeser, Brent Gates and Tom Novak, and defensemen Tory Dello and Troy Terry.

LONDON, Ontario – Curtis Lazar has yet to play a game in the NHL, but he secured a spot for himself in the Hockey Hall of Fame by making Memorial Cup history Friday night.

The Ottawa Senators' 2013 first-round draft pick scored the winner for the Edmonton Oil Kings 2:42 into the third overtime of the semifinal against the Val-d'Or Foreurs, bringing to an end the longest game in the 95-year history of the Memorial Cup.

"It's the first overtime goal I've ever scored in junior hockey. I still have to digest it. They took my stick. It's going to the Hall of Fame and that's pretty cool," said the 19-year-old, who was selected 17th overall by Ottawa last June. "We have something special from this team every night and it was my turn tonight. I capitalized on the opportunity."

The Guelph Storm were the best team in the Ontario Hockey League this season. They're looking to expand that title to the Canadian Hockey League.

Guelph beat the host London Knights 7-2 on Wednesday to finish round-robin play at the 2014 Memorial Cup unbeaten, and in three games outscored its opposition 18-7.

The Storm advanced to the championship game Sunday (4 p.m. ET; NHLN-US, Sportsnet), where they will face the Western Hockey League champion Edmonton Oil Kings (7 p.m. ET; NHLN-US, Sportsnet).

Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau was named College Player of the Year by USA Hockey on Thursday.

Gaudreau, in his third season at Boston College, led all NCAA players in goals (36), assists (44) and points (80). He helped the Eagles reach the Frozen Four and was named the winner of the Hobey Baker Award as the best player in college hockey.

After Gaudreau's team lost in the national semifinals, he signed with the Flames and had a goal in his NHL debut, April 13 against the Vancouver Canucks.

Guelph Storm defenseman Chadd Bauman was suspended on Wednesday for the remainder of the Memorial Cup. The decision was made by the NHL Hockey Operations department, which oversees player discipline issues for the Canadian Hockey League during the Memorial Cup.

Baumann was assessed a major penalty for kneeing and a game misconduct after a collision with Val-d'Or Foreurs defenseman Guillaume Gelinas at 7:50 of the third period of the teams' game Monday.

Center Anthony Richard scored off a breakaway 1:15 into the second overtime to give the Val-d'Or Foreurs a 4-3 victory against the Edmonton Oil Kings in round-robin play of the Memorial Cup on Tuesday night at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Antoine Bibeau made 47 saves for Val-d'Or and Oil Kings goalie Tristan Jarry (Pittsburgh Penguins) stopped 29 shots.

In attendance was Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis, who had to be pleased with the effort by Bibeau, a 2013 sixth-round pick (No. 172).

Richard scored his unassisted goal after picking up a loose puck in the neutral zone and speeding into the zone before delivering his first goal of the tournament through the five-hole. Richard shielded the puck from Edmonton defenseman Ashton Sautner, who was closing in fast from behind. It marked Val-d'Or's first lead of the game; the team rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits.

It was the sixth time in Memorial Cup history that a game entered double overtime.

Guelph Storm forward Robert Fabbri continued to cement his status as one of the top forwards available for the 2014 NHL Draft with a goal and an assist in a 6-3 defeat of the Val-d'Or Foreurs on Monday at the 2014 Memorial Cup.

Minnesota Wild draft pick Zack Mitchell had a goal and two assists for Guelph, which also got a goal and an assist from Columbus Blue Jackets 2013 first-round pick Kerby Rychel. Goalie Justin Nichols made 30 saves as the Storm, champions of the Ontario Hockey League, outshot the Foreurs 49-33.

Guelph, which beat the Western Hockey League champion Edmonton Oil Kings 5-2 on Saturday, improved to 2-0 in the tournament and earned a spot in the championship game Sunday. They'll finish round-robin play Wednesday against the host London Knights.

LONDON, Ontario -- It was not the game that was expected from Edmonton Oil Kings goalie Tristan Jarry on Saturday, in his first start at the 2014 Memorial Cup.

The 2013 second-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (No. 44) allowed five goals on 32 shots as the Western Hockey League champions lost to the Guelph Storm 5-2.

Even Edmonton coach Derek Laxdal described Jarry's performance as "not great."

So how did the 19-year-old react to the disappointment of that game?

He emerged from the locker room the same way he always does after a game, with a big smile on his face.

The Latvia-born forward is No. 145 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American forwards for the 2014 NHL Draft.

LONDON, Ontario – For someone who is technically a Memorial Cup rookie, forward Kerby Rychel has a lot of valuable experience to draw upon when it comes to junior hockey's championship tournament.

The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect, selected in the first round (No. 19) of the 2013 NHL Draft, was 11 years old when he attended the last Memorial Cup held in London in 2005. He witnessed an all-time classic when Sidney Crosby played his final games in junior hockey, representing the Rimouski Oceanic, and the London Knights won that franchise's first title led by future Anaheim Ducks star Corey Perry and a number of other players who are now in the prime of their NHL careers.

Four years later, Rychel was in Rimouski, at the Memorial Cup held there, taking morning skates with the Windsor Spitfires. He was able to do that because the Oceanic was and still is managed and co-owned by his father Warren, who played for five different NHL teams over a 12-year career. The young Kerby was overjoyed to see the powerhouse Spitfires win the Memorial Cup that season.
