Throughout his career Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise has risen to the occasion, especially in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Parise stepped up and then some in Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round with two goals, one shorthanded, to spark a 4-1 win that eliminated the St. Louis Blues.

With the Blues on their first power play, Parise grabbed a loose puck in the neutral zone, skated past Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and fired a shot that beat Blues goalie Jake Allen between his pad and the goal post.

Trailing the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference First Round series, Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper knew his team needed a spark of some kind.

Enter center Tyler Johnson.

Johnson set up the tying goal and scored his second of the game in overtime as the Lightning rallied for a 3-2 victory that evened the best-of-7 series 2-2.

Johnson got the Lightning started with a 4-on-4 goal with 5:26 left in regulation that cut the deficit to 2-1. He took a pass from Anton Stralman in the neutral zone and, taking advantage of the open ice, raced past Red Wings forward Darren Helm down the left-wing boards, cut to the net and lifted a quick wrist shot from in close under the crossbar and past Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek.

"As soon as we got that first one we grew a couple inches on the bench," Cooper said. "It was like a weight off our shoulders. And clearly the game changed at that moment when we scored that goal. You could tell our guys had a fire in them that was not going to be put out."

Blackhawks center Vermette comes up big in Game 4

Center Antoine Vermette was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks prior to the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline to bolster an offense that was missing Patrick Kane because of a broken collarbone. After scoring 13 goals and 35 points in 62 games with the Arizona Coyotes, Vermette had three assists in 19 regular-season games for the Blackhawks and was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the Western Conference First Round series against the Nashville Predators.

Given a shot at redemption after coach Joel Quenneville called his number for Game 3, Vermette played 13:35 in 17 shifts of Chicago's 4-2 win. But in Game 4, Vermette made the most of his second chance with a big goal in a game the Blackhawks would eventually win 3-2 in the third overtime.

Weise's heroics spark Canadiens to Game 3 victory

Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise is developing a reputation for delivering in the big moments of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Weise added two more postseason goals to his resume Sunday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre. Weise's second goal at 8:47 of overtime gave Montreal a 2-1 win and a 3-0 lead against Ottawa in the best-of-7 series but it was his first goal with 5:47 left in regulation that proved to be the game's turning point.

Canadiens forward Brandon Prust gathered the puck to Craig Anderson's right. Looking for Weise in front of the net, Prust's pass attempt deflected off Anderson's pad and into Weise's waiting glove. Weise dropped the puck in front of his stick and fired a shot into the open net.
