Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has captured the Frank J. Selke Trophy in recognition of "the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.

Bergeron garnered 1,283 voting points, including 112 first-place votes among the 137 cast, to finish ahead of second-place Anze Kopitar of the Los Angeles Kings (840 points). Bergeron won the Selke for the second time in three years. He finished second to this year's other finalist, Chicago's Jonathan Toews, in 2013.

Bergeron led the NHL in face-off wins with 1,015 -- the most by any player in the past seven seasons -- as the Bruins posted the best defensive record in the Eastern Conference and second-best in the League overall (2.08 goals per game). He ranked second in the NHL in plus-minus with a career-high +38 rating and led all Bruins forwards in average ice time playing shorthanded (1:57).

Penguins' Crosby selected as Ted Lindsay Award recipient

The National Hockey League Players' Association announced today that Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins is the 2013-14 recipient of the Ted Lindsay Award, presented annually to the "Most Outstanding Player" in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA.

Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers were nominated by the members of the NHLPA as finalists for the 2013-14 Ted Lindsay Award.

Crosby has now received the Ted Lindsay Award in back-to-back seasons and has been voted by his peers as the "Most Outstanding Player" three times (2006-07, 2012-13, 2013-14) in his career. He was also a finalist in 2009-10.

LAS VEGAS -- The National Hockey League announced today the order of the presentation for tonight's 2014 NHL Awards. Hosted by renowned television and radio broadcaster George Stroumboulopoulos, the 2014 NHL Awards will broadcast live from the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas at 7:00 p.m. ET on NBCSN in the U.S. and on CBC in Canada.

The scheduled order of award presentations is as follows (subject to change):

Lightning, Avalanche top nominees at NHL Awards

LAS VEGAS -- A year ago, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche were licking their wounds months after completing dreadful seasons. They were looking forward to the 2013 NHL Draft, where they had high picks and could begin to change their fortunes.

Nobody could have predicted they'd each change fast enough to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs and send a combined eight representatives to Las Vegas for the 2014 NHL Awards.

The Lightning and Avalanche, who finished 28th and 29th, respectively, in the standings last season, lead all teams with four nominees each for awards. They'll find out who wins Tuesday in a two-hour live show at Encore Theater in Wynn Las Vegas (7 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC).

The other teams that have as many as three nominees here are the Los Angeles Kings and Boston Bruins, who have combined to win three of the past four Stanley Cup championships.

It has been seven years since Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player for the only time.

Injuries have kept Crosby from piling up individual hardware since, and in recent years teammate Evgeni Malkin has won the trophy once and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has earned it three times. But the Pittsburgh captain is a heavy favorite to win the Hart Trophy again on Tuesday at the 2014 NHL Awards, which will take place at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC).

Oilers' Ference wins King Clancy Memorial Trophy

Edmonton Oilers captain Andrew Ference was named Wednesday as the recipient of the 2014 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, presented annually by the NHL to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.

Ference will be honored at the 2014 NHL Awards, to be held at the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas on June 24 (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC).

NEW YORK -- Marc Bergevin of the Montreal Canadiens, Dean Lombardi of the Los Angeles Kings and Bob Murray of the Anaheim Ducks are the three finalists for the 2013-14 NHL General Manager of the Year Award, the National Hockey League announced today. Bergevin and Murray are finalists for the second consecutive season, while Lombardi is a finalist for the first time.

Voting for this award was conducted among the 30 club general managers and a panel of NHL executives, print and broadcast media at the conclusion of the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The winner will be announced Tuesday, June 24, during the 2014 NHL Awards from Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. NEW YORK -- Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings, Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Patrick Roy of the Colorado Avalanche are the three finalists for the 2013-14 Jack Adams Award, presented to the head coach who has "contributed the most to his team's success," the National Hockey League announced today.

Members of the NHL Broadcasters' Association submitted ballots for the Jack Adams Award at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists. The winner will be announced Tuesday, June 24, during the 2014 NHL Awards from Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. TORONTO – The National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) announced today that centre Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, centre Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and centre Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers have been nominated as finalists for the 2013-14 Ted Lindsay Award. The Ted Lindsay Award is presented annually to the "Most Outstanding Player" in the NHL, as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA.

Crosby – last season's recipient – is seeking to be named the "Most Outstanding Player" by his peers for the third time in his career, while Getzlaf and Giroux are each looking to receive their first Ted Lindsay Award. The 2013-14 Ted Lindsay Award recipient will be announced on June 24th during the 2014 NHL Awards from Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
