Blues sign Upshall to one-year, two-way contract

ST. LOUISSt. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed forward Scottie Upshall to a one-year, two-way contract.

Upshall, 31, dressed in 63 regular season games with the Florida Panthers last season, posting 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) and 28 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot, 200-pound forward is a veteran of 12 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons including stints with Florida, Columbus, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Nashville.

Canadiens agree to terms with Fleischmann

Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin, announced Sunday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent forward Tomas Fleischmann.

Fleischmann, 31, played 66 games with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks in 2014-15, recording 29 points (eight goals, 19 assists). The 6-foot-1 left wing served 12 penalty minutes and maintained a plus-12, while averaging 14:42 of ice time per game.

Maple Leafs agree to terms with forward Brad Boyes

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Brad Boyes on a one-year contract. Boyes was originally invited to training camp with Toronto on a professional try-out.

Boyes, 33, appeared in 78 regular season games last season with the Florida Panthers, collecting 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) and 20 penalty minutes. The Mississauga, Ontario native has registered 481 points (203 goals, 278 assists) in 762 career NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and Florida. He has also appeared in 17 career NHL playoff games tallying seven points (three goals, four assists). Boyes was originally selected by Toronto in the first round (24th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Zidlicky agrees to one-year contract with Islanders

Defenseman Marek Zidlicky agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Islanders on Friday. No financial terms were disclosed, but Newsday reported the deal is worth $1.5 million.

Zidlicky, 38, had seven goals and 34 points last season with the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings. He had no points in six Stanley Cup Playoff games for Detroit.

Huberdeau signs two-year contract with Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Restricted free agent left wing Jonathan Huberdeau signed a two-year contract with the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Financial terms of the contract were not released, but TSN reported it's worth $6.5 million.

"Fantastic," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said. "I'm real happy for [Huberdeau] and I’m real happy for our team. It's good to have everything settled and be a whole unit. Sometimes it takes longer than others, but I was confident we'd get it done. It was just a matter of time. You get no extra points for doing it sooner than later."

Nelson, Islanders agree to three-year contract

Forward Brock Nelson and the New York Islanders agreed to a three-year contract, the team said Wednesday. Newsday reported the contract is worth $7.5 million.

Nelson, 23, who became a restricted free agent July 1, had NHL career highs of 20 goals and 42 points in 82 games for the Islanders last season, and has 34 goals and 68 points in 154 regular-season games in his first two seasons in the League.

Tlusty, Devils agree to terms on one-year contract

Forward Jiri Tlusty agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $800,000 with the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.

Selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round (No. 13) of the 2006 NHL Draft, Tlusty, 27, had 14 goals and 31 points in 72 games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Winnipeg Jets last season. He had NHL career highs of 23 goals and 38 points in 48 games in 2012-13, and has 87 goals and 173 points in 416 NHL games.

Panthers invite forward Havlat to training camp

The Florida Panthers announced today that they have invited Forward Martin Havlat to training camp on a professional try out.

Havlat, 34, has appeared in 788 National Hockey League games recording 241 goals and 352 assists (241-352 —593) with the Ottawa Senators (2000-06), Chicago Blackhawks (2006-09), Minnesota Wild (2009-11), San Jose Sharks (2011-14) and New Jersey Devils (2014-15).

With new contract, Ferland excited for opportunity

And just in time, too.

“Everyone was asking when it was going to get done,” Ferland said from Canada Olympic Park’s WinSport facility Thursday, shortly after putting the pen to paper on a new two-year contract. “I wasn’t worried, I knew it was going to get done soon. It was just a matter of time. I’m really excited. I’m just really happy that it’s finished and I can start focusing on hockey. I’m happy that it got done and I’m really honoured.”

Devils sign defenseman David Schlemko

Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils today signed free agent defenseman David Schlemko to a one-year, one-way contract for $625,000. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

"David Schlemko is a veteran with five years of NHL experience who brings depth and competition to our defensive corps," said Shero.
