Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Lewis blogged for NHL.com throughout the Stanley Cup Final, offering his insight on what was happening inside the walls of his team's locker room and within the confines of the rink.

LOS ANGELES -- This is such a great feeling right now. It is just awesome.

This game was another crazy battle out there. The Rangers played really good. They kept it tight on us. We had our chances and we finally got one to go there in double overtime.

Henrik Lundqvist was great for them, and he's such a great goalie, but our guy, Jonathan Quick, is great too. He was unbelievable for us tonight.

Lewis: Kings need more traffic in front of Lundqvist

NEW YORK -- I think the Rangers came out more desperate than us tonight.

We knew they would be, and we definitely need to raise our desperation level if we want to close this series. We were still in the game going into the third period, but just couldn't get one past [Henrik] Lundqvist.

There was a lot of positive talk on the bench. We were trying to keep everyone going, trying to keep going and keep getting pucks to the net. We wanted to do everything you can to try and get one in there.

NEW YORK -- After Game 2 on Saturday night, we stayed in Los Angeles instead of flying to the next city after the game like we would during the regular season.

It was an early flight, and I think everyone was still pretty tired. There wasn't a lot of action on the plane. It was kind of a lot of sleeping and resting.

We got into New York at about 5 p.m. and went to the hotel, got some dinner and then everyone went to their rooms for more rest.

Lewis: Kings found a way to win Game 2

LOS ANGELES -- This was definitely the second game in a row where we didn't want to come out and start like that, but we found a way.

We didn't want to spot them a couple of goals and give them the lead, but as the game went along I think we started to play better. In the third period we started to pick it up a little bit. We had more chances and got two goals in there and once again found a way to inch one out.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and so I guess I had what might be considered a non-traditional path to the NHL.

My dad and his family were Canadian and he played hockey growing up. We also lived across the street from an ice rink in Salt Lake City, so when I was 2 years old, he took me over and I started learning to skate.

I just loved it. I played every sport growing up, but it always seemed like hockey was my favorite. I always seemed to gravitate toward hockey.

Lewis: Not an ideal showing, but Kings will take win

LOS ANGELES -- That definitely was not the way we want to come out and start a game. The New York Rangers came out flying tonight and I think we were sitting back on our heels.

Once we kind of got into it we established our game better. I think we've got a lot of veteran guys who talk on the bench and talk in the dressing room between periods, and they were letting everyone know to calm down and to get back to the way we know how to play.

I think [Kyle Clifford]'s goal was a huge goal for us. It was a real confidence boost after we got down. It was big for him too to come up big for us. We got that first goal, and then we got it going a little bit better.

Drew [Doughty] scored to tie the game with a great goal. He's one-of-a-kind. Not many people can make that kind of play.

LOS ANGELES -- I've been asked by NHL.com to keep a blog during the 2014 Stanley Cup Final, so I'll be talking about our series with the New York Rangers, my career and my time with the Los Angeles Kings.

It has been a crazy ride for us during these playoffs, so before Game 1 against the Rangers let's look back at how we got here in the first place.
