Sens forward Hoffman files for arbitration for second straight year

TORONTO - Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman is one of 24 NHL players filing for salary arbitration.

Hoffman, who led the Senators with 29 goals in 2015-16, is filing for arbitration for a second straight year. He was awarded a US$2-million, one-year deal by an arbitrator before last season. He had asked for a one-year, $3.4 million contract, while the Senators countered with a one-year, $1.75 million contract

Toronto defencemen Frank Corrado and Martin Marincin and forward Peter Holland were also among the players filing for arbitration.

Other notable players filing for arbitration include Colorado defenceman Tyson Barrie, New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider and St. Louis forward Jaden Schwartz. The NHL Players' Association released the list on Tuesday.

Salary arbitration hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to Aug. 4.
