QMJHL Roundup: Fiore stars in overtime as Screaming Eagles beat Sea Dogs 4-3

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Giovanni Fiore scored 7:25 into overtime as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles downed the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-3 on Friday in their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Michael Joly scored twice for the Screaming Eagles, including a goal at the 12:54 mark of the third period to force overtime. Jordan Ty Fournier had a goal as well and Alexandre Belanger made 38 saves as Cape Breton took a 3-2 series lead.

Matthew Highmore struck twice for Saint John and Daniel Del Paggio also scored. Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 22 shots in net for the Sea Dogs.

The Screaming Eagles went 0 for 3 on the power play and Saint John was 2 for 5.

MONCTON, N.B. — Manuel Wiederer had a hat trick — including the third-period winner — to lift the Wildcats over Gatineau.

Zachary Malatesta, Austin Kosack and Stephen Johnson had a goal and an assist each as Moncton took a 3-2 series lead.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau, Austin Eastman, Alex Dostie and Yan Pavel Laplante all scored as the Olympiques built a 4-1 lead by the 48-second mark of the third.

HUSKIES 5 ARMADA 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Alexandre Fortin struck twice to lead the Huskies past Blainville-Boisbriand.

Julien Nantel, Martins Dzierkals and Nikolas Brouillard also scored as Rouyn-Noranda reeled off four unanswered goals to win the series 4-1.

Jan Dufek was the lone scorer for the Armada.
