WHL Roundup: Zablocki, Hobbs lead Pats past Rebels, even series at 2-2

REGINA - Lane Zablocki and Connor Hobbs both scored twice as the Regina Pats evened their second round Western Hockey League playoff series at 2-2 on Wednesday night with a 6-4 victory over the Red Deer Rebels.

Cole Sanford and Luc Smith also chipped in for the Pats with Chase Harrison, Adam Brooks and Sam Steel each tacking on two assists.

Luke Philp paced the Red Deer offence with a pair of goals while Austin Strand and Nelson Nogier had the others. Jake DeBrusk added three helpers.

Tyler Brown made 44 saves for the win in net as Rylan Toth turned aside 9-of-10 shots in 27:30 of relief to suffer the loss. Starter Trevor Martin kicked out 18-of-22 shots in 32:18 for the Rebels.

Regina was 4 for 6 on the power play. Red Deer converted once on two chances with the man advantage.

WHEAT KINGS 6 WARRIORS 2

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Nolan Patrick struck twice as Brandon downed the Warriors to take a 3-1 series lead.

Reid Duke and John Quenneville had a goal and two assists each for the Wheat Kings. Tim McGauley and Macoy Erkamps rounded out the attack.

Brayden Point and Jayden Halbgewachs found the back of the net for Moose Jaw.

THUNDERBIRDS 5 SILVERTIPS 0

EVERETT, Wash. — Landon Bow made 23 saves as Seattle shut out the Silvertips to take a 2-1 series lead.

Turner Ottenbreit, Scott Eansor, Donovan Neuls, Ethan Bear and Keegan Kolesar supplied the offence for the Thunderbirds. Nolan Volcan and Mathew Barzal tacked on three assists apiece.

Carter Hart took the loss after kicking out 26-of-31 shots in 55:07 for Everett. Mario Petit went the rest of the way and stopped the only shot he faced.

Silvertips forward Dawson Leedahl received a major penalty for kneeing in the third period.
